Early voting begins on October 16th and ends on November 1st in North Carolina. Doors are open at 8am at the Board of Elections, 221 South Hancock Street in Rockingham.. Faithful Democrats gathered Thursday the 28th to watch Barack Obama give his acceptance speech from Invesco stadium in Denver on a wide screen television set up for the occassion.
Democrats enjoyed snacks and fellowship as we put ourselves in Denver. It was the opinion of the crowd that Obama highlighted all the important issues that Democrats care about. We're looking forward to the campaign to come!

The North Carolina Young Democrats are traveling through the 8th District on Saturday October 11, 2008. The Young Democrats Bus will begin a tour of the District beginning in Laurinburg and traveling to Charlotte and back to Stanley county visiting in each county on the way. The group will arrive in Rockingham at approximately 10am. They will be served a snack and candidates will speak to citizens who will be gathered to greet them. Larry Kissell is the headliner and we understand that candidates for the Council of State will also be along to visit and talk to constituents.
Democrats in Richmond County were served up a plateful of American tradition this past Friday on the birthday of our nation. After the ribbon cutting, lunch was served consisting of good old hot dogs with all the trimmings, apple pie and lemonade. What could be more American than that? All the officers, Svea Strong, chair; Jeff Joyner, 1st vice chair; Anna Thomas, 2nd vice chair; Emma Lambeth, 3rd vice chair; Jim Chandler, secretary and Robbyn Sumpter, treasurer assisted with cutting the ribbon at the new headquarters located at 201 East Washington St., in Rockingham.
